Hey all. Thought I would share my first TFC video blog of the season. A Great Start To Season Eight viewfromthesouthstands.com/2014/03/a-great-start-to-season-eight/Toronto FC went west to kick off their 2014 campaign this past Saturday in fine style with an emphatic 2-1 away victory over the Seattle Sounders. In this post I talk about how everything and everybody came together, in particular the new Big Three plus just about everybody & everything else. I talk about how this essentially new team is rekindling much of the supporter passion that has long been dormant in Toronto and I take a moment to call out Clint Dempsey who deservedly should be getting suspended for his actions in the game.

Very nicely done... and completely agree about Dempsey although i don't see the league giving him more than a game.

I agree with some points Tim, and not with others. It's the city that is pushing the Argos on us, not the other way around. So going to city Councillors will provoke the "We understand you concern, but the Argos are a historic part of the city" type of response. The best bet is to go though local residents and events in the area, who have raised concerns about the reduced parking and traffic flow issues on Strachan Ave. Plus event organizers have also raised concerns about venue availability and overcrowding on matchdays.
If you go at them with the "what about the pitch"? argument they will not pay attention, remember they are politicians, not footballers, they could care less about the quality of the pitch or the soccer experience. If you start bringing up municipal issues regarding the stadium them you might a sympathetic ear, or local residents involved.

TFC Home Opener 2014viewfromthesouthstands.com/2014/03/tfc-home-opener-2014/Post game video thoughts after TFC’s splendid home opening win versus DC United. In this edition I focus on the as advertised DP’s, the steady progression of Doneil Henry, the renewed sense of occasion in the stands at BMO Field and I take a look ahead as some potential reality checks ahead in the form of some really tough road games.

So much optimism around this team right now it almost doesn't feel right. I think the biggest change I feel is that when they team is playing I am focused on the game itself instead of the pregame with friends.
Every time we step on the pitch we have a legitimate chance to win and do something special which is huge.

Reds Lose at RSL - Back Down To Earth viewfromthesouthstands.com/2014/03/downtoearth/Toronto FC crashes back to earth after a rough 3-0 defeat in Salt Lake City Saturday night. In this post game video blog I take a brief look back at the match and some of the apparent weaknesses the loss exposed (Bloom and Orr come immediately to mind). I also try to explain why we should not jump off tall buildings after just one game nor should we be exalting after the first two results either in retrospect. Finally I try and explain how the loss shows that the DP signings and new players coming in can only partially make up for seven previous seasons of gross ineptitude - and that there is still a ways for TFC to go.

TFC Put The Boots To The Crew viewfromthesouthstands.com/2014/04/tfc-put-the-boots-to-the-crew/In this post game video blog I take a look back at TFC's surprising short-handed victory over Columbus that saw just about every Toronto player exceed expectations in a 2-0 result. I also take a look at some suprisingly creative tactical innovations/selections from Mr. '4-4-2' Nelsen that worked quite well and I try and put this unprecedented nine points - two shutouts - two road wins season start into some sort of historical context.

Some good stuff Tim. I did see the yellow jersey and was going to make a comment but also knew you were likely wearing the goalie kit lol 1 game doesn't define our depth but it was very good to see we have player who can step in and can play well. I think we will have a much better idea about our depth when we get into the V-Cup games.

Shorthanded Reds Lose A Squeaker to Rapids viewfromthesouthstands.com/2014/04/shorthanded/In spite of an eye opener type of performance for youngster Kyle Bekker a shorthanded Toronto FC lost at home to Colorado 1-0 this past Saturday. In this video blog I lament in advance the impact on TFC of the World Cup, I take a more detailed look at the solid performance of the aforementioned Kyle Bekker & I tee up the tough road game ahead in Dallas. Finally I try and take a look at the first five games played for TFC and try and place a 3-0-2 start in some sort of context.

Thanks tim, The depth of the team is the big difference for me between this year and previous years. We still have cap room as well and maybe we see another pair of young canadians brought added in Hoilett and Carriero (might have miss spelled his name)

Reds Lose To DC viewfromthesouthstands.com/2014/07/reds-lose-to-dc/Post game video thoughts where I take another look at the current state of MLS officiating (here is a hint... the word POXY is used often!), the apparent tactical 'stubborness' of coach Ryan Nelsen and again how the depth the front office has accumulated finally gives a TFC head coach the flexibility to do things better.

Reds Storm Back To Win! viewfromthesouthstands.com/2014/07/reds-storm-back/Post game thoughts on a memorable night at BMO Field as the Reds stormed back from an early two nil deficit to win 4-2. In this post I take a look back at the win and the defensive lapses that led to the need for the comeback in the first place. I also take a look at both the prowess of Defoe and the need for more secondary scorers to start stepping up. Finally I include some video from the stands and outside the stadium as supporters celebrate the win in true TFC style.

We All Cried 'Unkel'viewfromthesouthstands.com/2014/07/we-all-cried-unkel/Sadly we witnessed Saturday where another poor (and highly inexperienced!) MLS official directly impacts the outcome of a Toronto FC match - this time not for the better. In this video blog I take a look at the critical error that MLS ref Ted Unkel made early on that arguably cost TFC three precious points and many of the others he made in a shockingly poor display of officiating. I also take a look at how well the Reds did compete against one of the very best opponents they will see this season in Kansas City and how Nelsen still needs to find more ways going forward to take advantage of what he now has to work with.
