I'm not sure why some TFC supporters think Defoe will not be a good signing for TFC. He is EXACTLY what TFC need, a clinical finisher. Let's face it, in the MLS defenders have a pretty hard time tracking forwards with pace and good movement, Defoe has both to spare. Plus at 31 he's still got plenty in the tank.

personally i think he will be one of the three top players tfc will have, plus we need a player who can finish with Dero now and rumours Bradley coming.....mmmm toronto fc is going to Be playing football like it should.

I think Defoe would be a great addition up front. We need someone who can score goals, period! He has LOTS of experience and should have as good an impact that DK had, if not a better one.

I guess my only concern with Defoe is his fitness coming into the start of the season. As i've heard he'll sign with us, then stay at Spurs on loan until March. He could pick up a serious knock by then, especially as Spurs has a tough run in + Europa League.

I would much prefer for Defoe to come over and be in training camp so he can build some chemistry with the team, but if him staying until march is the cost of doing business then it's worth it.
I would imagine with Renewals coming up soon we will hear about a deal by next Friday (assuming one is done). If we don't hear about anything by then I may start to worry about another Forlan type scenario

I'm ok with him staying on until March.
I'm more concerned with Gilberto gelling with the team first. As he doesn't speak English I would assume it will take him a little longer. Having the entire pre-season without Defoe might just be what is needed. Plus, Defoe will be at mid-season form in March when he gets here... which is awesome.
